across a recipe that is so darn delicious that it becomes a family favorite, one that everyone loves.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com\/2011\/05\/bloomin-onion-bread.html\">The Bloomin' Onion Bread<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com\/\">The Girl Who Ate Everything<\/a> is one of those recipes.\u00a0 I decided to try it in my Dutch oven outdoors and the results were fabulous.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>You may have been to \u00a0Outback and tried their Bloomin'\u00a0 Onion appetizer.\u00a0 It's one of our favorites at Outback, \u00a0so when I saw the recipe for Blooming Onion Bread, I had to try it.\u00a0 It looks so amazing and tastes great.\u00a0 When I've pulled it out of the oven, it looks so amazing that I actually hear people gasp.\u00a0 I doubt they'd ever seen anything like it.\u00a0 Sounds like just the type of delicious recipe that I wanted to try outdoors.<\/p>\n<p>To make this dish,start with a round loaf of sourdough bread.\u00a0 Make sure you get it unsliced because you'll need to do the slicing yourself.\u00a0 Take a sharp knife with a little bit of serration.\u00a0 Make vertical cuts in the bread about \u00be-1\" inch apart from one side to the other and then turned the whole loaf 90\u00b0and repeat.\u00a0 Don't cut all the way to the bottom crust.\u00a0 Leave the bread attached at the bottom.\u00a0 Making the cross-cuts can be a little bit challenging but if you work slowly and carefully you'll be OK.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_3167-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-5530\" of sliced Monterey jack cheese and put them into the cuts that you just made.\u00a0 Fill up as many of the cuts as you can.\u00a0 Carefully separate the bread while you do this.\u00a0 You'll end up sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Next mix \u00bd cup of melted butter with\u00a0 \u00bd cup of chopped green onions, \u00a02 teaspoons of poppy seeds and 1 1\/2 teaspoons of garlic powder.\u00a0 I think real butter works best for this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_3170-2.jpg\"><img sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Line your Dutch oven with aluminum foil. \u00a0\u00a0Make sure that the ends of the foil extend well above the top of the Dutch oven.\u00a0 This will help with cleanup and help you get the loaf out the Dutch oven when it's done.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_3179-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-5534\" Dutch oven and pour the butter mixture all over the top.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_3181-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Put the lid on the Dutch oven and put 8 to 10 coals underneath and the rest on top (in my case that was about 17).\u00a0 \u00a0Let cook at least 30\u00a0minutes.\u00a0 Since we started with a Dutch oven cold it will take a little time to heat up.\u00a0 You should check after 15 minutes, just to make sure all is going ok.\u00a0 You want to make sure the cheese is nicely melted and that the bread is warmed throughout.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5536\" gently left the loaf out of the pan and onto a serving platter.\u00a0 Carefully raise the loaf and remove the aluminum foil from underneath.\u00a0 Present to your guests and wait for their oohs and aahs!\u00a0 They'll love how it looks and how it tastes! \u00a0To eat, just dig in with your fingers to remove delicious chunks of bread and cheese, or cut a chunk off for each person.<\/p>\n<p><a or a campout or feeding a bunch of hungry boy scouts! \u00a0 It's so easy to make.\u00a0 You could even prep it all ahead of time by cutting the bread, slicing the cheese, and inserting the cheese slices, and wrapping the whole thing in Saran wrap and putting into the fridge\u00a0 If you stir up the melted butter mixture as well, you'll have everything done except the cooking.<\/p>\n<p>Awesome You will need to adjust for outside temperature and wind.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Cook for 30 minutes, checking to see if the cheese has melted. You may need to cook longer if the cheese has not melted or if the bread is not warmed through.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">When done, grasp the foil from both sides of Dutch oven and gently remove to a serving plate.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Gently lift up the loaf and remove the foil.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Serve!
