{"id":4999,"date":"2014-06-26T21:19:14","date_gmt":"2014-06-27T04:19:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/?p=4999"},"modified":"2014-09-17T20:29:07","modified_gmt":"2014-09-18T03:29:07","slug":"dutch-oven-madness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/dutch-oven-madness\/","title":{"rendered":"Dutch Oven Madness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dutchovenmadness.blogspot.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-5000\" src=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/dutchovenmadness-1024x517.jpg\" alt=\"Dutch Oven Madness\" width=\"400\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/dutchovenmadness-1024x517.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/dutchovenmadness-300x151.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/dutchovenmadness.jpg 1345w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a>It's been awhile since I introduced you to another one of the fantastic outdoor cooking blogs out there. \u00a0This one is unique, because it details the journey of Toni, who decided to take on a mammoth challenge and cook with a Dutch oven every day for a whole year. \u00a0I don't know about you, but that seems pretty daunting to me. \u00a0It can be difficult to get out every day for a whole month, or even an entire week. \u00a0But an entire year? \u00a0That seems like madness. \u00a0 Did\u00a0she make it? \u00a0To find out, check out Toni's blog \u00a0at <a href=\"http:\/\/dutchovenmadness.blogspot.com\">Dutch Oven Madness<\/a>\u00a0or read through to the end to find out!<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><div style=\"float:right;margin:3px\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"src=\"http:\/\/ap.lijit.com\/www\/delivery\/fpi.js?z=262584&u=outdoorcook&width=300&height=250\"><\/script><\/div>In late 2009, Toni decided that she needed a challenge to help her continue to learn and grow and figured that since she was cooking anyway, she might as well learn a new way to cook. \u00a0She had a couple of old Dutch ovens in the basement and determined that the best way to learn to cook with a Dutch oven was to do it for 365 days and then share that journey with everyone. \u00a0Wow! \u00a0We should all be so determined.<\/p>\n<p>Toni had a challenging start since she had 4\" of snow on the ground and 25 degree temps to deal with on her very first day. \u00a0That would be enough to get almost anyone to second-guess themselves. She pressed on, started with a <a href=\"http:\/\/dutchovenmadness.blogspot.com\/2010\/01\/day-one-fast-and-easy-cookie-cobbler.html\">quick and easy cobbler<\/a>, shared how she cooked it, what she learned, and a review of the recipe. \u00a0She continued with that pattern the remainder of the year, sharing her challenges and successes, some delicious\u00a0recipes and a review of each recipe.<\/p>\n<p>I browsed through the year's worth of posts,\u00a0finding some delicious sounding dishes, such as <a href=\"http:\/\/dutchovenmadness.blogspot.com\/2010\/01\/day-16-glazed-mini-meatloaves_15.html\">Glazed Mini Meatloafs<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dutchovenmadness.blogspot.com\/2010\/04\/day-113-garlic-alfredo-chicken-pizza.html\">Garlic Alfredo Chicken Pizza<\/a>, and some interesting sounding ones, like <a href=\"http:\/\/dutchovenmadness.blogspot.com\/2010\/07\/day-191-root-beer-chicken-with-kiesbasa.html\">Root Beer Chicken with Kielbasa<\/a> and<a href=\"http:\/\/dutchovenmadness.blogspot.com\/2010\/10\/day-299-pumpkin-biscuits.html\"> Pumpkin Biscuits<\/a>. \u00a0I saw desserts of all kinds, breads, casseroles, vegetables, Mexican, beef, chicken recipes and just about anything else you can think of. \u00a0If you want to see a potpourri of Dutch oven recipes with pictures and explanations and a fun daily read, this is the place to go. \u00a0To get a quick idea of the things Toni cooked, check out her <a href=\"http:\/\/dutchovenmadness.blogspot.com\/p\/the-1st-year.html\">1st Year page<\/a> where she lists everything that she cooked on one page.<\/p>\n<p>So did she make it? \u00a0Well not quite. \u00a0Illness got in her way a couple of times and she had some family health challenges where more important things took priority as they should. \u00a0Some might condemn her for not making her goal. \u00a0I do not! \u00a0It's much better to set the goal to cook every day and \"only\" cook 350 days or so (I don't know the exact number of days she actually cooked), than to set a goal that was much more\u00a0achievable (like cooking once a week, for example) and achieving that. \u00a0The difference is cooking for 350 days versus 52! \u00a0The former is obviously a much greater accomplishment. \u00a0We should all take a lesson from\u00a0that and set our aim higher. \u00a0We will achieve so much more.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you'll take a few minutes and browse through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/dutchovenmadness.blogspot.com\">Toni's Dutch Oven Madness blog<\/a>. \u00a0I'm sure you'll find something to cook yourself. \u00a0How could you not?<\/p>\n<div class=\"signature\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/images\/scottsig.png\" alt=\"Scott\" height=\"35\" width=\"86\" \/><br \/><\/div>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/forms.aweber.com\/form\/47\/1981075247.js\"><\/script>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been awhile since I introduced you to another one of the fantastic outdoor cooking blogs out there. \u00a0This one is unique, because it details the journey of Toni, who decided to take on a mammoth challenge and cook with a Dutch oven every day for a whole year. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know about you, but &hellip;
