I had this sirloin tip roast in the fridge and was smoking some ribs, so thought that I might throw the roast on at the same time. \u00a0Why not use all that good smoke for cooking more than one thing? \u00a0Then I thought about adding some extra flavor by adding some bacon draped over the top of the roast while it smoked. \u00a0I was thinking that some of the bacon drippings would soak down into the roast, giving it some great flavor. \u00a0Here's what I did.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>First of all I put some flavoring on the roast: coarse salt, coarse pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Sirloin-Tip-Roast.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium bacon and made a weave with it. \u00a0Rather than explain what I did, I'll let the pictures do my talking!<\/p>\n<p><a the ribs for several hours. \u00a0I wanted to get it to about 160 degrees internal temperature. \u00a0The color of the smoked bacon was fantastic!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Bacon-Covered-Roast-Almost-Done.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4705\" src=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Bacon-Covered-Roast-Almost-Done-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Bacon Covered Roast Almost Done\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Bacon-Covered-Roast-Almost-Done-300x199.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Bacon-Covered-Roast-Almost-Done.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mid way through the smoke, I wrapped the roast in foil to help it get up to temperature and tenderize it.<\/p>\n<p>After several hours, the roast was done. \u00a0Doesn't it look marvelous?<\/p>\n<p><a render a bit more and soak down into the roast, so while it looks great, it didn't have the extra flavor I was hoping the bacon would give. \u00a0I think the temperature needed to be higher. \u00a0I
