It was a little different from the typical chicken wing, but it had a nice, mild flavor and was super easy to do.<\/p>\n<p>Rinse your chicken wings and blot dry. \u00a0Sprinkle generously with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Prepare the basting sauce by mixing the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 1\/2 cups Italian dressing<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 cup honey<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 tsp liquid smoke<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp onion powder<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp dried oregano<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp hot red pepper flakes<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp freshly ground black pepper<\/li>\n<li>coarse salt to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Divide the basting sauce in half. \u00a0One half will be used for basting during cooking and the other half will be poured over the wings when they are done.<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"float:right;margin:3px\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.shareasale.com\/r.cfm?b=631169&u=124118&m=52974&urllink=&afftrack=\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shareasale.com\/image\/52974\/300x250_cookie_ziplist_green_start_your_.jpg\"  border=\"0\"><\/a><\/div>Set up your grill for indirect grilling, which means to set up your propane or charcoal grill so that you're not cooking directly over the flame or coals. \u00a0 If you have a multi-burner propane grill, start one or two burners, but cook over the burner that is not lit. \u00a0If you have a charcoal grill, start your charcoal, then move the coals to the outsides and cook in the middle (or whatever other method will work for your particular grill).<\/p>\n<p>Prepare some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/apple-wood-chips.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">wood chips<\/a> for smoking by putting a handful into a foil packet and tearing three holes in the foil packet so smoke can escape and flavor the wings. \u00a0You can also use a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/smoker-box.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">smoker box<\/a> if you have one, or you can toss them directly on the coals if using charcoal.<\/p>\n<p>Clean and oil the grates and add the wings to the hot grates. \u00a0Keep the wings away from the heat. \u00a0Cover the grill so the smoke is contained. \u00a0Cook the wings until they are golden brown, which will take about 30-40 minutes. \u00a0About 15 minutes into the cooking, start\u00a0brushing the wings with the basting sauce prepared above. \u00a0 Then baste every 5-8 minutes after that. \u00a0Turn the wings occasionally to coat all sides.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2533\" title=\"smoked chicken wings2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/smoked-chicken-wings2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Smoked Chicken Wings\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/smoked-chicken-wings2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/smoked-chicken-wings2.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the last few minutes of cooking, move the wings so they are directly over the heat and cook uncovered. \u00a0Cook until crisp (but don't let them burn--it's easy to get a few that are cooked a little too much!).<\/p>\n<p>When the wings are done, move them to a plate, pour the other half of the basting mixture over them and serve immediately.<\/p>\n<p>These are simple to do and very tasty. \u00a0 \u00a0Enjoy!<\/p>\n<div class=\"signature\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.outdoorcookingmagic.com\/images\/scottsig.png\" alt=\"Scott\" height=\"35\" width=\"86\" \/><br \/><\/div>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/forms.aweber.com\/form\/47\/1981075247.js\"><\/script>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Smoked chicken wings are delicious on the grill and super easy to do.
